Sustainability
We limit grass cutting to support natural biodiversity. We tell visitors about the importance of the river protected area and otter habitats.
All of our wines are made exclusively from Estonian berries and fruit, sourced from local growers and partly from our own garden. This means we reduce our transport footprint and support local farmers.
We are the first wine producer in Estonia to wash wine bottles on site and recycle them. Once you've bought wine from us, you can return the empty bottle for a new life!
Our wine production is supported by 15 kW of solar panels with a hybrid inverter and battery bank, which can cover up to 70% of our annual energy needs. During the off-peak months, electricity is ensured by an intelligent market price-based management.
We use dual system toilet bowls to save water. We collect rainwater to irrigate greenhouses and flower beds. We prefer eco-friendly cleaning products and biodegradable solutions. In the winery, we do not use any special chemicals for disinfection, but mainly only hot water.
The wine press residues are composted or fermented a second time to make distillates and other products. Glasses and plates for tastings are always reusable - we do not use disposable plastic containers. Food waste is prevented by always preparing the exact amount of food ordered. However, if there is any leftover, it is made into pâtés, sauces or other delicacies.
We recommend public transport! From Tallinn and Rakvere you can get to us by bus, where you can walk or use our retrobus, which takes guests directly to the winery.
If you come by car, you can charge your electric car directly at our farm.
It is a place where nature, tradition and responsible tourism come together.
We are honoured to be part of the European Union of Protected Areas’ Sustainable Tourism Quality Label, which is awarded to companies that contribute to the preservation of the biodiversity and cultural heritage of Lahemaa National Park.
